About Nikoran-5 Tablet

Nikoran-5 Tablet is used to treat angina pectoris (heart-related chest pain) in adults who cannot take beta-blockers (blood pressure-lowering pills). Angina pectoris is a kind of chest pain due to decreased blood flow to the heart. It is a symptom of coronary artery disease.

Nikoran-5 Tablet contains Nicorandil, that opens potassium channels present on the muscle cells within the walls of blood vessels and relaxes these muscle cells and widens blood vessels.

Some people may experience headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, flushing (reddening of the skin) or very fast, forceful or uneven heartbeat. Most of these side effects of Nikoran-5 Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist, please consult your doctor.

Take Nikoran-5 Tablet as prescribed by your doctor with or without food. You are advised to take Nikoran-5 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. Do not chew, break, or crush the medicine.

If you are allergic to Nikoran-5 Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Nikoran-5 Tablet is not recommended for children as the safety and effectiveness were not been established. It is advised to drive only if you are alert as Nikoran-5 Tablet may cause dizziness or weakness. Avoid alcohol consumption with Nikoran-5 Tablet as it may cause severely low blood pressure.

Storage

• Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.• Keep Nikoran-5 Tablet out of reach and sight of children. • Cold chain – To be stored in cold places at 2ºC to 8ºC.

What if I have taken an overdose of Nikoran-5 Tablet

Take Nikoran-5 Tablet only as prescribed by the physician. Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it could lead to an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include weakness, dizziness (signs of low blood pressure), and fast/irregular heartbeat. If you experience these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Drug Warnings

• If you are allergic to Nikoran-5 Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor.
• Avoid taking Nikoran-5 Tablet if you have hypotension (severe low blood pressure), low blood volume, pulmonary oedema (accumulation of fluid in the lungs) or any heart problems.
• Do not take Nikoran-5 Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and consult a doctor.
• Nikoran-5 Tablet is not recommended for children as the safety and effectiveness were not established.
• Avoid alcohol consumption with Nikoran-5 Tablet as it may cause severely low blood pressure.
• Avoid taking vardenafil, sildenafil, tadalafil and riociguat with Nikoran-5 Tablet as it may affect blood pressure. If you notice in blood in stools while taking Nikoran-5 Tablet , inform your doctor immediately as it may be due to ulcers in the stomach, intestines or back passage.
